This is a rare January 20th, 1938 program (playbill) from the three-night, National Tour engagement of ORSON WELLES' Mercury Theatre Production of the William Shakespeare classic "JULIUS CAESAR" at the Shubert Theatre in New Haven, Connecticut. (The Mercury Theatre's revival of "Julius Caesar" opened November 11th, 1937 at New York's Mercury Theatre, moved to the National Theatre on January 31st, 1938 and ran for 157 performances while simultaneously playing on the road.) ..... The play starred LAWRENCE FLETCHER in the title role and TOM POWERS as "Marcus Brutus" and the cast included EDMOND O'BRIEN, WILLIAM W. SAUNDERS, HERBERT RANSON, MORGAN FARLEY, GREGORY ROBBINS, McGREGOR GIBB, ERIC MANSFIELD, BERNARD SAVAGE, JOHN STRAUB, NORMAN WESS, NORMAN BUDD, ARTHUR WILLIAM ROW, VINCENT DONEHUE, FRED THOMPSON, HELEN CRAIG, MURIEL BRASSLER, HAROLD J. KENNEDY, STANLEY POSS and ROBERT EARLE ..... DETAILS: The sixteen page playbill measures 5 3/4" X 8 7/8" inches and includes full production credits, cast list and wonderful vintage advertising, but no cast photos or bios ..... CONDITION: (Please Note!) There is discoloration along the seam, the start of a split at the bottom seam, a clipped corner to the front cover and first inside page, light creasing  and moderate edge wear. Despite these flaws, this rare playbill will make a wonderful addition to the collection of any theatre aficionado or historian. This item will be carefully packaged in a protective, carded sleeve and backed by stiff cardboard.
