19th Century Red Lacquered Oriental Asian Chinoiserie Round Lidded Tea Box Great Patina

Intriguing painted figures on the lid appear to be wearing face masks.

CONDITION NOTES

Wonderfully aged patina demonstrated by contrast between bright red interior and aged blood red exterior. Please zoom the photos to see detail.

Shows paint wear and oxidation consistent with 150+ year old aged object. The sides of box show more wear than lid due to being touched more often. Lid shows brighter paint and clearer images consistent with being touched less. It has a couple small nicks which show oxidation on material underneath which is likely papier mache. The interior of the box looks lightly used with paint that is bright and has slightly less crazing because it wasn't exposed to the elements for 150 years.
