Original folder-brochure issued for the launch of the new Mk. 3 Ford Cortina range in October 1970. Despite early sales being hit by a long strike early in 1971, the Mk. 3 Cortina proved to be even more successful than the Mk. 2 model. The Mark 3 was the UK's best selling car from 1972 to 1975 only ceding the No. 1 position to the Escort in 1976, the year the Mk. 3 was replaced by the Mk. 4 Cortina. Remarkably the Mk. 3 Cortina - just as a single model range - held a 11.5% share of the UK market in 1972 with 187,159 cars sold!*

There is no date of printing for the folder but it is estimated to be from autumn 1970. The individual model leaflets are each dated "Effective from October 1970".

Interesting folder-brochure for the brand-new Mk. 3 Cortina. Stapled within the folder is a small-format 12-page "Background to the New Cortina" booklet. Sitting within the folder are 5 fold-out leaflets covering the different models in the Mk. 3 Cortina line-up: base & L; XL; GT; GXL; estate cars. There is also a separate Options leaflet. Also included is a Ford Price Guide, dated "Effective December 1970". This covers the prices for Ford UK's passenger car range (Escort, Cortina, Capri, Zephyr & Zodiac/Executive).

Fair-to-good condition - there are some flaws:
1. The outer folder has significant marking and creasing. The front cover in particular has a circular mark in the sky/mountain part of the picture. There are also some additional marks + the bottom right-hand corner of the front cover is creased. Please see scanned image.
2. The blank (white) rear cover of the folder is marked and a bit grubby (please see scanned image).
3. The pocket which contains the fold-out leaflets is torn right along its bottom edge.
4. Good news! The "Background to the New Cortina" booklet and the model line-up leaflets are all in good condition and virtually unmarked. Note that the price guide has a dealer stamp - Denoon Motor Company Ltd, Chelmsford, Essex - on its front.

Size (folder): 298 mm x 218 mm. Model line-up leaflets measure 285 mm x 197 mm, each folding out into a double-sided single sheet comprising 4 page sections on each side. Note that the Options leaflet comprises just 4 printed page sides.

Delivery

All my brochures, leaflets and road-tests, etc., are dispatched quickly via Royal Mail in hard-back envelopes (or other protective packaging). I regularly post to Europe, the USA, Canada, Japan and Australia. Please contact me regarding other destinations.

* Note that the Mk. 4/Mk. 5 Cortina would continue this success with even higher sales in some years.
