M1840 Ames Cavalry Saber. New Factory like condition.

41 1/2” overall length. 35 1/2” curved single edged blade with wide stopped and narrow partial unstoppable fullers and a trailing point.

The ricasso is crisply marked “N.P. Ames/Cabotville/1846” on the reverse face and “US/JH” on the obverse.

The blade exhibits a near perfect mirror polish. Some slight scabbard wear at the top. The brass hilt has been expertly polished and grip is mint condition and everything sealed in museum glass!
