This item has been in our family for many years and has been the subject of some research. Using the registered design number, clearly visible on the handle , it is possible to access the records in the National Archives at Kew, London , where it can be ascertained that this design was registered in 1928. Not quite a 100 year old Antique quite yet but nearly there. The item comes with copy of the "very limited" information available from Kew. Note the crispness in the detailing of the facial figuring. There are forgeries of this item on various platforms usually forged in brass ( melts at much lower temp than steel- easy to copy) copies of copies lose their detail. This one also passes the magnet test. The item is fully functional and has a lovely patina .
