Even when empty, this 9-inch tall, antique, German beer stein is full of stories to tell.  Where to start?

Made in Germany, this souvenir stein was made expressly to be sold in Rochester, NY.  The dealer was the R. B. Price art and photography company which was located at 87 East main St, overlooking the Genesee River.

The bas-relief images on the ceramic depict the Cobbs Hill Park Reservoir, Soldiers Monument, and the Keeler-kimball building, which was home to the city's Chamber of Commerce. Of the 3 landmarks featured on the mug, only 2 remain. Along with the Price photo and novelty shop, the Stern-designed, 1894 Keeler-Kimball Building fell in 1980 to make room for the Riverside Convention Center.

After all of this, the stein survives! There are a few hairline cracks near the top rim of the vessel, so care should be taken when proposing hearty toasts, but there is absolutely nothing chipped, broken or missing. The lid fits perfectly even with its tarnished pewter.

It's ready to go for another 110 years - thanks for reading!
