Vintage 1950s or 1960s Walter Drake Handpainted Thin Neck Tie Black W White Scroll Motif

Each of the vintage Walter Drake neck ties were handpainted and though very similar on first glance, they are each unique. Calling it black and white but the black tie could be seen as a very dark brown and the white scroll is actually more of a tan or cream color. Pretty cool vintage tie!

Tagged "100% imported polyester" on back skinny side of tie (see photo).

Adapted from online sources:  Mr. Walter Drake, a pioneer in direct mail, began operations in 1947 in Colorado Springs with a single novel idea. In his one-room office, he created a character named “Tommy Turtle,” advertised in magazines like House Beautiful and Harper’s Bazaar.  As America became a more mobile society during the 1950’s and 60’s, Mr. Drake developed a mail order catelogue and gradually added products including stationery, address labels, and hard to find, unique everyday items such as this tie.

Measures 44" long and 2 3/4" at widest point.
