For Sale Today:

An absolutely gorgeous, and ever-so-enchanting piece of Christmas past, this antique Victorian through Edwardian era pressed blue celluloid banner giving the wish of 'A Merry Christmas'. A wondrous example of Victorian whimsy and innovation.

Incredibly rarely seen, some of the only examples present came originally from the Jim Morrison Collection.

These banners were made from thin sheets of celluloid, a plastic-like material that was popular in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. They featured colorful images of Santa Claus, angels, holly, mistletoe, and other festive motifs, along with the words "Merry Christmas" in ornate fonts. Some of them also had tassels, fringes, or ribbons attached to the ends. Antique Victorian celluloid Merry Christmas banners were usually hung on walls, windows, mantels, or doorways to greet guests and celebrate the season. They are now highly sought-after by collectors and enthusiasts of vintage Christmas memorabilia.

Overall, fair condition. Some cracking along the bottom of the banner. A hole present in the banner - appears to be from manufacturing. Some loss of color. Missing paper finial. Some loss of gilt. Exhibits signs of age such as surface wear and weathering. As they are part of the description, please enlarge all photographs to better ascertain details and condition.
