Very special antique china doll made in Germany called a “Frozen Charlie”. These dolls were the play toys of children and were also called “bathing dolls” as they could be taken into the bath where they would float in the tub. Each frozen Charlie or Charlotte doll had a little tiny hole in the behind which was how the bath water could drain out.

I’ve just added a photo of him with his “older, larger brother” Frozen Charlie, who has not been listed, since they look so dear standing together. The larger Charlie is 16” tall.

This precious boy is perfect with no chips, damage, or repairs and shows fine modelling and decoration of his wind blown, brushstroked black hair. You can see crisp modelling of his finger and toenails as well. His body is pure white and his head and neck are pink-tinted. He has carefully shaded and painted brown eyes.

He wears a pink and black homemade baby dress that ties in the back for times when you might want the option to display him either clothed or naked.

He has a fantastic wooden stand that holds him sturdily and resembles Victorian “ baby walkers” of his time.

It’s a special accessory that adds to his appeal as well as provides sturdy safety when the doll is standing, although he can stand alone perfectly well.
