This one shoulder dress appears to be post-WWII, as the outer part seems to be nylon. The sewn-in slip is made of taffeta. It is cut with pinking shears and machine sewn. The skirts of the outer nylon and inner taffeta have been pieced with triangular insets at the bottom due to material being too narrow to accomodate their fullness. The bottom of the outer dress measures about 8 yards around; the inner taffeta is about 2 1/2 yards around. A tag inside the back of the slip reads, "A Bon-Ray Design". The leaf and flower design on the outer nylon is either hand done or a screen print. The design is in basically nice condition with color still good. The slip is supported on the right side with a narrow strap over the shoulder and sewn into the seam on the left above the metal side zipper. The bottom of the armpit on the right side of the dress has been patched by hand for about 5/8" just above the dart, outside nylon only. There are 3 very small wear holes in the taffeta, one in the upper front skirt, one in the front bodice, one in the back bodice; these are about 1/8" diameter. There are also several small holes on the shoulder that are probably from pinning on a brooch or corsage. The back bodice next to the zipper has 3 slightly larger holes in the nylon. There are belt loops at the side waist, one detached, indicating the dress once had a sash or belt. There are also some small spots on the slip and one largish light gray area, about an 8" circle on the outer skirt that is visible under sunlight. The dress does need to be cleaned.
