1882 GROSS Anatomy & Surgery
System Medicine Pathology Therapy Engraving 2v Set
Samuel Gross, a
renowned 19th-century physician and surgeon, was well-known for his
medical treatises on surgery, particularly “System of Surgery”. This work is highly desirable and
important, regardless of edition, and, according to ‘Heirs of Hippocrates’ the
greatest surgical treatise ever written and was for many years the
standard text in medical schools. Gross composed this work to be “the most elaborate, if not the most
complete treatise in the English language.” (GM 5607).
This 1882 edition
is highly sought after, and this example is no exception with 1623 engravings
throughout.
