About the recipient Richard Braungart (source: wikipedia) and Bruno Wilhelm (source: collegium Sarnen, wiki on the history of the Muri-Gries monastery):

Richard Braungart (* 19. February 1872 in Freising; † 20 February 1963 in Munich) was a German writer and art critic.

Career: Braungart was born the son of Richard Braungart, a professor of agriculture. After graduating from high school in Freising, he first studied law at the University of Munich for four years and then art, music and literature for another three years.

After his marriage and the birth of his first daughter, he accepted a position as an editor at the Munich newspaper in 1903, for which he worked for more than 30 years. In particular, theater and art reporting fell within Braungart's department. In addition, he was a regular contributor to various magazines, such as the magazine Die Kunst für Alle initiated by Friedrich Bruckmann, Westermann's monthly magazines, the Leipziger Illustrirten Zeitung and the Berlin-based magazine Exlibris. After the end of the war he became an art critic at the newly founded Münchner Merkur.

In addition to his editorial work, Braungart also appeared as an author. In addition to two volumes of poetry, he published a series of artist biographies, such as August Benziger, Wilhelm Busch, Julius Diez, Josse Goossens, Eduard von Grützner, Ludwig Hartmann, Georg Papperitz, Max Rabe, the three Schiestl brothers and Karl Walther, and a biography of the art collector Otto Krebs.

His specialty has always been commercial art and bookplates. His related works are considered the basic works of this art genre. Richard Braungart's own extensive bookplate collection is now owned by the Munich City Museum.

Braungart was close friends with the composer Max Reger, for whom he helped achieve a breakthrough, particularly in Munich. In 1906 Reger took over the sponsorship of Braungart's second daughter Maximiliane out of gratitude.

An intensive pen pal with Thomas Mann should also be emphasized.

Braungart was an honorary member of the Max Reger Institute and the German Exlibris Society.
