7" Records Lot #175: Thirteen Vintage 45 RPM Box Sets Issued In The 1940s and 1950s - UNTESTED

Comments:

THESE RECORDS ARE SOLD AS-IS. I did clean most, but not all, of these records before I graded them. You may want to inspect and decide if any still need cleaned. The records have have not been play tested. Please see the many photos and my notes below for more details on condition and contents.

I believe that most of the records are at least playable and many will play exceptionally well. However it is more likely than not that some number of these records will be defective in some way or another. I looked them over pretty well for grading, but my visual-only grading has to be considered provisional. You can't know if or how well any record will play until you play it.  Record surface noise levels should be minimal to mild on the higher graded records but could be a heavier crackle on some of the lower graded records. Expect to hear ticks, clicks and pops occasionally. I hope I didn't miss any show-stopping defects when I went through these records, but I may have. I'll apologize in advance in case you find any unplayable warps or cracks or such that I might not have noticed.

I suspect that these box sets may have been in storage for decades. Don't be alarmed if you notice faint mustiness with some boxes. Airing out generally helps eliminate that.

Here is a list of the box sets included in this lot with a few notes on condition:

  1. Guy Lombardo - Silver Jubilee - Near Mint vinyl in Decca sleeves. Box is nice with wear around edges.
  2. Guy Lombardo - Twin Pianos Vol. 1. - Near Mint vinyl in Decca sleeves. Box decent with edge wear.
  3. Fred Waring - Songs Of Devotion Volume 1 - Near Mint vinyl in white paper sleeves. Box has some moisture marks and a large crease on front.
  4. Vaughn Monroe's Dreamland Special - Mostly Near Mint vinyl in RCA Victor sleeves. Near the end of Side A of Record 2 there is a tiny pimple on the vinyl. I tested this and it played through fine with two clicks on my record player. Your results could vary. Box looks good with edge wear and a price tag taped to the front.
  5. Cole Porter's Can-Can - Three discs are in VG condition, One disc is in EX condition. The records are in white paper sleeves. The box has typical edge wear and some writing on the front.
  6. Ted Lewis Vol. 2 - Near Mint vinyl in Decca sleeves. I noticed at least one sleeve where a seam needs some glue. A liner notes inset is included. The box shows typical edge wear and some wear/soiling on the front and some moisture marks on the liner notes.
  7. Frankie Carle's Sweethearts - Near Mint vinyl in RCA Victor Sleeves. Liner notes insert included. Box looks nice on the front with typical edge wear.
  8. Der Rosenkavalier Waltzes - VG+ to EX discs in tan paper sleeves. The box shows a good bit of wear including at least one corner seam split.
  9. Al Goodman - Friml Melodies - Mostly VG+ vinyl in RCA Victor sleeves. The records have spindle hole adapters installed, so I left them there for you. The box art looks pretty good, but the front cover has been crushed a bit in a couple of spots leaving creases.
  10. Waltzing With Romberg - VG+ red vinyl in RCA Victor sleeves. The box and the liner notes insert show some moisture marks.
  11. Beethoven Moonlight Sonata - VG condition red vinyl (quite a few scuffs) in white paper sleeves. The box shows a lot of wear.
  12. Rachmaninoff Concerto No. 2 - VG to VG+ condition red vinyl in white paper sleeves. A liner notes insert in ragged condition with tears is included. Something else of interest is included in this set. There are 5 pretty good looking record-sized circular papers with advertising. I assume these were used as record separators (instead of sleeves?), but that's a guess. The box for this album is very beat up.
  13. Al Goodman Vagabond King - Mostly VG+ to EX beautiful blue vinyl in RCA Victor sleeves. I play-tested Side 1 because there are some scratches that I was concerned about. No big problem, but they produce ticks/light clicks for much of the second half of the side. The box has a good bit of edge wear, but the front art looks really good.

Don't forget that I did not play-test these records and the collection is offered As-Is.

LOCAL PICKUP RULES: If Free Local Pickup is offered for this item and you choose that option instead of an option to have the item shipped to you, there are a few rules to be aware of. We both have to allocate time to make a pickup work smoothly, so please understand the local pickup rules.
  1. Don't choose free local pickup if you are expecting the item to be shipped to you (obviously). That won't work.
  2. Don't choose free local pickup if you live far far away, but think you might be in the area someday. That won't work. Pickup arrangements will always be made for a specific date and time, very close to the purchase date. Please don't ask me to hold something for extended periods of time.
  3. Pickup arrangements will be made after payment is received for the item. I will specify a location to meet.
  4. Payment must be made through eBay as soon as the item is purchased, just like for items shipped though USPS or UPS. No payments will be accepted in person. Failure to pay for the item in a timely manner may result in order cancellation.
  5. eBay provides a method to confirm the item has been picked up. At the time of this writing, that method is a QR code plus a six-digit code that can be found by looking at order details or in an email from eBay. YOU MUST BRING THE PICKUP CONFIRMATION CODE WITH YOU FOR EVERY ITEM TO BE PICKED UP. I can't hand over the item(s) without first scanning the pickup confirmation code(s). The codes can be printed or can be presented on your phone (eBay app or email).
  6. Items purchased for local pickup must be picked up in a timely manner, preferably the day of purchase or the next day. If you need more time than that to pickup your purchase, we must make arrangements before the item is purchased. Orders not picked up in a timely manner, as described, are subject to cancellation and the item will be relisted for sale.
  7. Failure to show up for the arranged pickup meeting will result in order cancellation.

For items to be delivered outside of the USA, buyers should be aware that any customs fees / taxes that are required by your government are your responsibility and are not covered by the cost of the item or the shipping charges.

I promise to pack your item securely, no matter what it is. Everything I ship gets packed well, so don't worry about a thing.

If appropriate I will add insurance coverage. Sometimes I will add signature tracking (USA) when your item is shipped. Signature tracking ensures that the postal service doesn't leave your valuable item unattended on your doorstep out in the sun or rain - it has to be handed over face to face. If you order something rare and/or worth a bit, be prepared to have to accept delivery in person.

When multiple items are shipped together, I can almost always give you a better deal on the shipping cost compared to the individual shipping costs. I promise to give you the best rate possible based on the items purchased and the shipping method required.

For "Buy It Now" items (most of what I offer), simply add each item that you want to your shopping cart. When ready to commit to buying, request a total from me from your cart and I'll send an invoice as soon as I can. Since I'm not a computer and I do other things like sleep and take the dogs for walks, you might not receive an immediate response, but I will get back to you as soon as possible. If you decide to pay for items you want individually instead of requesting a total from the shopping cart, I will promptly send back whatever money I can for a shipping discount.
  • Some items are not compatible for combined shipping.
  • Combining shipping might require changing the shipping method or increase packaging materials expense.
  • A few items that I offer are not eligible for combined shipping.
  • Of course it is ok to ask about combined shipping costs up front. You have to tell me exactly what you intend to buy and where it will be shipped. I can't always give an exact cost, but I can at least give you an estimate.
  • I reserve the right to limit the number or total value of items that I'm willing to send in a single package.
  • For international sales I use ebay's international shipping program. Combined shipping depends on the ebay shipping program rules in place at the time of shipment. It is possible that no combined shipping discount is available for international orders.
