AN ANTIQUE WATCH FOB WITH CARNELIAN SEAL, DATING FROM THE LATE GEORGIAN PERIOD (APPROXIMATELY 1830).
IT IS 15ct GOLD-CASED, WITH THE HEAVILY DECORATIVE FOLIATE DESIGN WHICH IS TYPICAL OF THAT DATE.
THE CARNELIAN IS CARVED INTAGLIO WITH A LION AND THE LETTERS 'PS'. THE STONE IS IN LOVELY CONDITION OVERALL BUT WITH A MINOR 'DING' NEAR THE BASE OF THE LION'S TALE. THE DESIGN CAN BE SEEN IN THE 7TH PICTURE WHICH SHOWS THE IMPRESSION THAT THE SEAL MAKES.
THE BASE OF THE SEAL IS 19.5 X 17 mm. THE HEIGHT IS 27.7 mm.
THE TOTAL WEIGHT IS 11.6 GRAMS.
