For those of you who are Globe Wernicke®/Macey stack barrister legal bookcase collectors, restorers, investors and fans these are EXACTLY what you need to finish detailing your bookcase units. YOU ARE PURCHASING A FULL SET OF 2 (TWO) TRACKS, THAT'S ONE PAIR, THAT MEASURE 9 3/4 INCH IN LENGTH. We have seen many ways in which people have tried to cobble their units once the hardware has been lost. The most common approach is just to leave them off. This then leaves the hinge assemblies dragging on the bare wood inset shelf for the tracks, which then bears the brunt of the force of the doors as they are forced, opened and slide back for use. This damages the wood shelf, loosens the door and the entire unit, as you struggle to get the doors closed and opened on the units. These doors should glide open and close with very little effort. This also dramatically affects the value of the units and stacks as it destroys the original condition of the unit. There is only one other source for this type of rail and it looks nothing like the originals and is a universal "one size fits all" and very thin (won't last). When we see these tracks on a stack we know we will have to throw them away and replace them with our exacting accurate tracks to preserve the function and value of the units we have. We would also question what other corners have been cut in restoring the units? Our tracks are exacting to the last micron. The finish is also very very close. The pieces are laser cut, perfectly dimensional formed and bent. They are slightly a thicker gauge material as the original releases tend to break at the bend and wear out. The very reason many of them are missing on the units today. THESE DOOR TRACKS WERE PREDOMINATELY USED ON THE STANDARD "E" UNITS AND ARE ALSO THE DOOR TRACKS FOR POST 1920'S Globe Wernicke® and later "GENERAL/UNIVERSAL/LYCOMING" BRANDED and AMES METAL 1950s-1980s BOOKCASES! THESE CAN BE USED FOR MACEY CLOSURE CONVERSION USE. ALL OF OUR CURRENT TRACK RELEASES far exceed the quality of the earlier releases in 1900. They are the exact height and width dimension range. WE HAVE PRODUCED THE BEST VERSION TRACKS THAT WERE DESIGNED BY Globe Wernicke®. People often use the Globe Wernicke® hardware to convert their Macey units when the irreplaceable door track parts are missing on MACEY'S as well. We have gone to considerable expense, time and effort to have these produced again. These are very difficult to produce exactingly. The installation just takes a few minutes and appears completely authentic when installed (see 3rd unit photo on the RIGHT).
