This set of 5 feather light handmade arrows was obtained in the 70s from the pygmy people of the central basin of the Congo Rain Forest.
The feathers originate from the ubiquitous black and white hornbill. The rope is made from inner tree bark fiber.
The smithed arrow point sits loosely ( image #4 )on the shaft, so that when prey is hit and runs off the point detaches from the shaft - remaining attached by the rope - which in its turn hampers further run away of the prey animal as it gets stuck in the undergrowth.
