1930-1940 Iridescent Black Beaded Zippered Clutch with Bead Fringe.

Beautiful vintage bag. Difficult to find one exactly like it. The tight beadwork and quality of the beads is outstanding. It measures about 11” long by 7” wide, including beaded fringe, (the fringe is about 2 1/2” long). The beads used on this bag are beautiful iridescent black with a blue and purple cast. They sparkle beautifully. The clutch is zippered, no handle. Inside, the navy satin is in very bad condition, having deteriorated. This leaves the cardboard sides exposed. However, the bag is sturdy and strong. Remarkably, no beads are missing, either from the sides, nor the fringe. The only way to date this bag was by the Talon zipper. So, I researched Talon zipper history and found a chart, (which I’ve included in photos), that would date this zipper to 1930’s to 40’s. The zipper is in fine condition and zips easily and tight, as long as you’re careful not to catch the lining in it. . This is a unique and beautiful example of beaded bags carried during this era. Very unusual and very much a quality made purse.
