In a time before the EPA, a mainlander municipal dump was regularly burned and bulldozed into the Atlantic ocean. The Barrier Islanders also burned their trash and dumped the remains into the sea. Unthinkable today, but a treasure from the past brought ashore. The islands and the coasts are littered with these relics from a bygone era. Often after a thunderstorm or a hurricane these beauties wash up for beachcombers to find.
