This is a reproduction cleaning rod, which is suitable for either the .303 caliber Mk1 or Mk1* (1889-1891 era) Lee Metford rifle.

These were made obsolete about 1900 and therefore original rods are scarce. The cleaning rods I make are copied from an original I had on loan.

It's 27.5" long with a 3/16" rod diameter, the head has the correct amount of circular grooves (10) and has four parallel grooves along the length with a slot for the cleaning cloth. The lower end has a left hand threaded (although the original thread is almost impossible to replicate) have used a similar left hand 'Whitworth' threading tool which does suffice and screw in.

Other model 303 caliber rifle or carbine rods can also be replicated... check the last 2 photos and ask a question about them?
