About the founding of the Riekesche Foundation in Braunschweig (source: inschriften net):

Henning Rieke the Elder Ä. acted as ten man of the old town; his son Henning Rieke d. J. was a decennial of the Neustadt and in the years 1606 to 1611 a member of the Neustadt council. Henning Rieke the Elder Ä. was married to Anna Ruschers, who died after her husband's death beguinage founded, to whose founding the inscription C refers. In 1587, Anna Ruschers bought the house, which was already described as a beguinage in the purchase contract, from the Altenwiek Council and the Church of St. Magni for an annual interest of 22 guilders. In 1588 Anna Ruschers had a new house built on the property by the zimmermann Ludeke Clawes and an old building renovated. The workhouse was intended especially for women over fifty years of age who had worked as servants. Inscription B also refers to the fact that the target group of this foundation consisted of needy women.

The account book of the Riekesche Foundation contains a short autobiography by Anna Ruscher, which reveals that she grew up as an orphan without means. When she came of age, she received a marriage proposal from Warner Graillord, which she refused against the advice of her friends. Later it turned out that the Braunschweig mayor had tried in 1549, instigated by the Abbot of Riddagshausen, to betray the city of Braunschweig and set it on fire. After the plans became known, Warner Lord of the Grail was born on April 4th. Executed December 1549. In her autobiography, Anna Ruschers thanks God for saving her from such an ignominious fate, even though she was not spared worries at the time of her marriage to Henning Rieke. She tells how her daughter Ilse Rieke was blind for two years, but regained her sight – although everyone had already given up hope. God saved her even when someone put her Spanish fly poison in food. Anna Ruscher's husband and children Anna, Ilse and Henning died while she was still alive. Because God gave them a peaceful death and protected their family, Anna Ruschers brought the foundation into being. She herself must have died after 1594, since the entries in the account book end in her name in that year.
