This sitting, resting German Shepherd Dog figurine was crafted by the skilled artisans of Jennings Brothers. Jennings Brothers began their metalwork foundry in 1891 and remained open until the early 1950s. They produced some of the most finely-crafted art metal pieces that exist, even to this day. Their methods of production required meticulous techniques which did not lend themselves to machine-directed mass production, but rather depended upon the handiwork of expert artists, sculptors and metal craftsmen. All Jennings Brothers pieces were made of cast white metal or antique spelter; but because of their rich patinas, they are often mistaken for bronze or silver. I only described it as Bronze or Brass because of the search engine choice, There is no other metalwork foundry with finishes as durable as Jennings Brothers. For this reason and because of the complexity of their designs, Jennings Brothers metalwork is highly sought after by collectors world-wide. This figurine measures approx. 5 1/8” tall X 7 1/8” long. The trademark “JB” 1928 is stamped on his underbelly. It has a nice bronze patina and is in very good antique condition.
