Addressed to a "madam" who was suffering from diphtheria. "[...] I'm so sorry that you couldn't stay at the Lazarus back then. I would certainly have gone to great lengths to make you a little nicer. [...] The time with their more than miserable diet is not suitable for a quick recovery. ‒ I was very shocked to hear the news of your brother-in-law's arrest."

Hans Freiherr Kress von Kressenstein - also Hans (Freiherr) von Kress - (* 27. December 1902 in Munich; † 28 February 1973 in Berlin) was a German physician and co-founder of the Free University of Berlin.
He came from the noble Kress von Kressenstein family and studied in Munich and Freiburg. Since 1937 private lecturer at the Berlin Friedrich-Wilhelms-University (today's Humboldt University), he was appointed professor there in 1947. A year later he was one of the founding professors of the Free University (FU) in the western part of the city, where he served as first dean of the medical faculty and from 1950 to 1952 as rector.
