For auction today is a vintage and collectible wall mounted brass ships' cabin style clock, it is a mechanical clock with one key for the wind and a knob for the black hands. I am not sure of the date but as a guess possibly from the 1950s-1960s, could be a little later. The clock is brass but does suffer from some deterioration and wear. It has been in storage for some years so will tick for seconds only after swaying the clock a little.
The dial is silvered and has black hands and black Roman numerals, the dial is in good order and is stamped with its trade name "Marpro" and way down at the bottom "",ade in England." The back of the clock is impressed wit the No. "6453." It has three holes so it can be anchored against a wall. The front glass protector is hinged and opens out revealing the enclosed brass casing with one key and one knob. There is also a brass label with the following stamped "Marton Prioducts " 15-21, Wilton Way, London, E8 3ee.
The clock is a real nice collectible and the box states it has an 8-day action, but as mentioned above it only ticks for seconds after a little swaying. I would advise it to be professionally service/cleaned so it can continue to give good service for the future. Once have ing had it seen to, it would be a real good collectible. The box is in good order with information labels. This one is quite unusual as it has its original box, held together with corner staples as was the custom then.
