For sale is a lot of six vintage makeup compacts from the 1940s and 1950s. I'll describe them in detail in order of the main photo.
- Round (2 3/4-inch diameter), red plastic, screw top, case by Coty. The back reads, "Coty, Cream Powder, Naturelle, No. 498." Inside is a Coty puff and some of the powder cake. Don't know if there was ever a mirror in it. There is not one now.
- Brass square (basically 2 1/2 x 2 1/2 inches), unbranded case. Inside there is a mirror and a fabric screen thingy. The top shows wear marks and scratches. Closes with a nice, tight snap.
- Round (3 1/4-inch diameter), yellow and gray metal, unbranded case featuring a pinwheel and flower design. Inside has an inset mirror, puff, and screen. Closes with a nice, tight snap.
- Square (basically 3 x 3 inches), case by Shields (engraved on the inside) decorated with light blue enamel-like material. There was something glued to the top at one point. Inside is a mirror and three pans for makeup, two small ones and a larger that has a lid that held powder. Closes with a nice, tight snap.
- Round (2 1/2-inch diameter) yellow and gray metal case featuring the initial "G". Inside the mirror has come loose and the puff reads, "Dorset, Fifth Avenue." There is plenty of wear and some damage to the case. Snap works on closure.
- Rectangular (2 1/4 x 3 1/2 inches) brass case featuring a map of Michigan "The Wolverine State." The case has shows wear and has some scratches. The mirror is missing, and the makeup pan snap works and has a puff. Closes with a nice snap.
I offer a variety of items for auction each week and am happy to combine shipping with multiple purchases. If you have any questions or would like more photos, please ask. Sale is final.
