This is a LOT of the first two volumes of Scribner's Monthly.  These bound volumes contain the first twelve issues of this periodical publication (from Nov. 1870 through Oct. 1871) with six issues in each volume.

Each Hardcover volume is bound in black quarter leather over black pebbled cloth boards [T. Symons, Flint Mich. binder ticket], 6 5/8" x 9 3/4", 672 pages (vol. I), 688 pages (vol. II).  Illustrated in black-and-white.

Hans Christian Andersen
George MacDonald
Mary E. [Mapes] Dodge
Edward Eggleston

CONDITION:  Overall, these volumes are in Very Good condition with some wear to the extremities, especially the bottom, fore-edge corners.  There is also some foxing.  The books are a tight and intact without ANY MARKINGS by previous owner(s).  Please examine all twenty-four photographs of this book for a better idea of its condition, appearance and contents.
