The NGC label identifies this coin as a GR (Graham-Reiver) Plate Coin.

This special coin is pictured on Pages 124 & 125 of Dick Graham’s book, "A Registry of Die Varieties of Reeded Edge Half Dollars 1836 - 1839" which was published in 2012. The coin was a part of Dick Graham's "Reference Collection". This is the Collection Graham used to write his book which is now the standard that is used by the major grading companies to attribute the die variety of Reeded Edge Capped Bust Half Dollars. The NGC Certification Page shows that this coin is Top Pop for the 1838 GR-14.
