Deep in the Texas valley, north of the Mexican border, lies the lovely city of McAllen. Back in the 1960s McAllen had a thriving music scene that ran from Tex-Mex, Ballads and Soul to Rock and Roll. The best studio around was Jimmy Micholls. He started the Pharaoh label in response to the demand for local talent to be represented on vinyl. The tracks included on this LP showcase the Rock and Roll side of the label. By far the most exciting group to record for Pharaoh were the Headstones. They cut two incredible 45's. ... All of the selections on this LP were recorded on 2-track mono machines, yet nearly two decades later they sound as fresh and exciting as if released in 1985..."
