This is a Vintage Shapleigh Hardware. Co. #B518 Diamond Edge 2 Blade Folding Pocketknife with a Mother of Pearl handle (may be simulated). The knife has been handled and moved around and used some, the blades may have been sharpened but not to the extent of damage (see photos).
Features:
1. Master Blade front tang says "Shapleigh Hdw. Co. D E" for Diamond Edge.
2. Master blade is approximately 1-5/8" Carbon Steel (see photos). Master blade has some darkening common to carbon steel, but I don't see any active rust or pitting.
3. Blades #2 is approximately 1-1/8" same material as the master, with
some darkening common to carbon steel, but I don't see any active rust and one spot of pitting (see photos).
4. The blades may have been sharpened but not to the extent of damage.
5. 2-7/8" overall length closed.
6. Side and center liners are solid brass; bolsters are shiny with minor wear (see photos).
7. The scales are a beautiful Mother of Pearl (look real; may be simulated) (see photos).
8. Blades have no wiggle and good snap.
9. No Sheath or box supplied.
Note: The knife has been wiped down with a clean, soft, dry cloth, any actual cleaning or patina removal will be left to the purchaser. Any defects we noticed were listed, but we do not assign a level of condition. You must see all of the photos which are considered a part of this description (use the eBay zoom-in tool), and make your own decision regarding blade, and handle conditions; ask questions for anything you see or don't see before you decide to purchase the knife, because once shipped, the knife cannot be returned or refunded even for any wear from opening and closing and some use.
