BEAUTIFUL V RARE VINTAGE MAPLENOLL AIR BEARING AUDIOPHILE TURNTABLE SERVICED TESTED AWESOME SOUND! Excellent cosmetic condition as seen in the pics and video of the actual turntable you will be getting where you can also see how well it’s working . In the video you might be able hear the sound of the air compressor working this compressor is not included it was used just to test the turntable this compressor is a power tool compressor , you will need a quality and quiet compressor ideally place faraway from the turntable in another room with a 35 -55 psi rating there and a air line drier installed to trap the moisture in the air line .
MAPLENOLL Athena is LEGENDARY ! and is well know among die hard vinyl fans as it sounds truly awesome when adjusted correctly adjusted the sound quality surpass that of many more expensive hi end turntables .
It had eminent technology (ET) based highly regarded linear tracking air bearing tone arm and air bearing platter both of which almost zero friction . This is a tweaker delight turntable it has so many parameters you can adjust to that extract maximum details for your records.
Recently it has been fully serviced which includes the following work ::
1. Air bearing platter removed its bearing cleaned and polished with a quality metal polish .
2. The motor 33 and 45 rpm aluminum pulley cleaned and polished , the motor upper bearing cleaned and reoiled .
3. The air bearing bottom plate bearing cleaned polished and new grease applied.
4. Four new suspension springs installed so more precise leveling of the turntable can be accomplished rather than with only the bottom 3 leveling screws .
5. ET Linear tracking tonearm air bearing adjusted correctly so it don’t drift left or right but stay stationary in middle this is accomplished with turning the bottom three leveling screws and then more precisely by the 4 suspension large hex screws.
6. Every single square inch of this beautiful turntable cleaned , where needed relubricated and polished for ultra smooth rotation and like new performance .
A generous length of new 1/4 “ dia clear soft plastic tubing is included along with brass female threaded coupler at one end the other end goes to the turntable the brass coupler end goes to a suitable compressor of about 40-50 psi the compressor an air drier filter is not included as it belong to my air brush use. You should be able to purchase any good quality small air compressor that make little noise when working many owners have mentioned online that a good quality small home fish aquarium air compressor works great with this turntable . I used my air brush compressor which although noisy when it working did the job of supplying air for the air bearing of the turntable platter and tone arm very well .
What is included is :
1. The optional and original mapleknoll heavy round record clamp down .
2. The optional electronic CUE device that gently raises and lower the cartridge on record.
3. Vintage audiophile ADC Qlm30mk3 stereo cartridge who stylus is in great condition.
4. Original and rare copy of the owner’s manual and addendum .
5. Original very well made dust cover.
After the above through service was performed it was time to test the turntable , contrary to what has been said online by some owners this is really a very easy turntable to adjust and tweak for maximum sonic quality once adjusted correctly it stays that way and deliver truly awesome sound only limited to the quality of the recording on the record.
This turntable is very heavy! And built like a tank It’s very well made and will probably last you a lifetime with a little proper care! Quality made in USA!.
