This is a beautiful handmade studio craft three-drawer oak and walnut jewelry or keepsake box, ca. 1980’s by Akron, Ohio studio woodworker Jim Remington(1943-2106). The box is is constructed of a sculpted oak frame with open front and back, and a carved ring dish on top. The drawers are made of walnut and fit into place perfectly. They have abstract, carved handles that contrast well with the lighter wood. There are two red velvet ring holders, one in the top and one in the bottom drawer. This box was made for renowned Cleveland artist Phyllis Seltzer, who was a lifelong friend of Remington's. Purchased from the Seltzer estate in late 2023.
