International silver co. Frontenac pattern sterling silver carving set, knife and fork. Marked STERLING on the handle of both. The knife measures 14 1/2 in long approximately. The fork measures 10 5/8 in approximately. Both handles are tight and secure, nothing is loose. The blade on the knife is a form consistent with antique knives at the turn of the century and it leads me to believe it is an early production piece for this pattern which was 1903. The blade has been sharpened over the years and is slightly uneven on the edge, I will try to show in the photos. The tip of the knife is slightly blunt shown in photos. The steel on both pieces has wear normal for age shown in photos. The sterling silver handles have scuffs and scratches normal for age.The sterling silver handle on the knife has 2 big dings in the side of the handle, most of the darkness in the dings is tarnish but I can see with my loupe that there is a small crack in one of the dings of the silver shown in photos. Bothe handles are monogramed. Both sterling silver guards are slightly curved shown in photos. The handles were jet black when I found these, I polished them to this point to show the design and wear. These pieces are very rare but have condition issues that allow the price to be where it is at and a great find for a collector or someone with this pattern either to fully restore or keep in this condition. Please ask any questions before buying. Please look at the photos as they are part of the description. Thank you for looking.
