Classic Collectible 1941 Elgin pocket watch. A near perfect all original nickel hunting case, size 16. This beautiful case is in great condition with an intricate and gorgeous rope design engraved around the dial. Elgin single sunk porcelain dial with luminous enamel Arabic numerals with red minute markers. The dial is in near mint condition. Beautiful metallic blue hour, minute, and seconds hands. Inner lid case marked Cased and Timed by Elgin National Watch Co. Illinois Watch. Its Crystal is in excellent condition with no visible scratches. Mechanical hand-wind and stem set, 17 jewel, Grade 387, Model 7, Class 110, USA made. Case measures 52mm diameter, 15mmthick. The watch runs well and keeps good time. Movement – the nickel bridge movement has a lever escapement with a micrometer regulator. The movement is decorated with damascening and assigned “Elgin Nat’l Watch Co, USA” #39515269


Case – the movement comes in a nickel open face case by Elgin, which has a hinged inner, back and snap on bezel. The case has an engraved pattern on the front and back sides and a smooth plain finish on the rest of the case, there are light scratches to the back of case. The case back is engraved with "ORD DEPT U-S-A No. OB-5096". In WWII this watch would have been issued by the Ordinance Department to field officers.

Dial – the white enamel military dial has old luminous hands and numbers – long since lost their luminosity. The dial also has continuous minute marks in red. The dial is signed “Elgin” and is in near mint condition.  Please view all photographs as they form an important part of the description.
