Welcome to TKCN Mail-In Repair!

Hello! My name is Ian, and I’ve been refurbishing used electronics since 2015. I have experience refurbishing a wide range of electronics, with a particular focus on handheld gaming consoles. I do not believe in taking shortcuts. All devices I service are refurbished with quality parts (OEM wherever possible) and tested thoroughly for both software and hardware imperfections. I take great pride in the quality of my service and work hard to maintain my long-standing reputation, 100% positive feedback score, and “Top-Rated Plus” seller status.

Despite my thorough precautions, it is naïve to think mistakes will never happen. I believe it is therefore one’s attitude toward having the customer’s back and solving any issues that is paramount. Don’t just take my word for it, though—a simple visit to my review history should speak for itself. As always, thanks for visiting, and if you have any questions or concerns, feel free to shoot me a message!

----

This listing offers my services specifically for the repair of broken or dysfunctional Nintendo consoles of the following variants;

-    -Nintendo Switch

     -Nintendo Switch Lite

     -Nintendo Switch OLED

     -Any related controllers (joycon/switch pro)

I can also perform installation for aftermarket modifications such as transparent re-shelling or other cosmetic upgrades.

If you need something done, but aren’t sure how to do it yourself, feel free to inquire!

Even if it’s not listed here, chances are, I have the experience and/or tools to handle your unique request.

----

If you are interested in hiring my services, please read and follow the steps below!

-

-

Step 1: Reach out to me via eBay Messages.

------------------

Click “send the seller a message” on this listing to open a channel through which we may discuss your specific console’s needs.

-

I will use the information you provide to determine an initial diagnosis of the cause of the issue(s), research reliable suppliers for any parts you may need (that I don’t already have), and to give you an approximate estimate for the time and cost which will be needed to execute the repair. To give you a general idea of how I calculate estimated cost, I will summarize;

------

-

Parts:

You’ll cover all costs of acquiring necessary parts from other sellers (including shipping).

If I have a part you need in stock, you won’t have to pay for any additional shipping, and I will sell it to you at unit cost rather than full price.

-

Shipping:

You will pay for shipping to and from your house.

-

Labor:

Time spent for labor will be measured with increments of 5 minutes, to allow finer adjustment of cost. That way, if (for example) I only spend 45 minutes on something, you won’t be charged for a full hour. Beyond the time estimate given initially, the cost per 5 minutes will decrease every hour on a sliding scale. If it takes less time to complete something than anticipated, your bill will be reduced accordingly.

-

Time Spent (In increments of 5min)

Rate:

Cost / 5min:

(Cost/Hr):

Time estimated initially, up to a maximum of one hour: (X)

A

$1.25

($15.00/Hr – minimum wage)

Up to 1 hour after [A] expires:

(12 ≤ X ≤ 24)

B

$1.00

($12.00/Hr)

Up to 1 hour after [B] expires:

(24 ≤ X ≤ 48)

C

$0.85

($10.20/Hr)

All time spent thereafter: (X ≥ 48)

D

$0.50

($6.00/Hr)

-

à Once we’ve ironed out the initial details and decided upon a course of action, I will refer you back to this listing.

-

Step 2: Purchase this listing.

----------------------------

Please note that purchasing this listing begins the process, but it is NOT the full ticket to repair.

Purchasing this listing pays for and guarantees only an initial package, which will simply be a box containing the following:

-

1. Packing Materials to pad your console and prepare for shipment,

2. A prepaid shipping label addressed to me

-

This listing is priced at my cost to acquire these materials, plus a $5 ‘deposit.’ You can use these materials to send me your console.  There will also be a page called the Repair Order Form inside this box, which you must review, sign, and include in the box with your console when you send it to me.

-

-

-

Step 3: Repair Order Form

 -

----------------------------

The Repair Order Form will summarize your service plan and approximate final cost (as discussed via Messages prior to your purchase), which you must review and sign to officiate the initial agreement. Returning this form to me with your console will allow us to keep a ‘paper trail’ to ensure both of us are protected should anything differ from what was agreed-upon.

-

This type of service relies heavily upon the honor system. I’ve tried my best to balance the risk factor fairly between you and I, but it remains an imperfect system, and there are only so many factors I can control. I must therefore insist upon a few key terms which lower the risk factor on my end enough to make repairing your console worth it. These are listed below.

-

Please make sure these are agreeable to you before proceeding.

By signing the Repair Order Form, you officially;

-

1.    Acknowledge that the estimate given based on our discussion is based upon possibly incomplete information gathered before testing or repair has been attempted, and that the final price of service may be subject to change should any additional (explicitly agreed-upon) costs of repair mount.

2.    Agree to accept the signed Repair Order Form and other written communication (i.e. text, email, or eBay messages) as binding documentation/evidence of any explicit agreements made throughout this process in the case of an order dispute.

3.    Understand that the recording of time spent on labor is handled at the seller’s discretion and is not subject to argument.

4.    Are prepared to pay the final price as determined/adjusted via the aforementioned communications & agreements (in full) via a secondary listing in order to have your repaired console returned.

5.    Understand that abandoning communication or otherwise failing to pay said price within 30 days of repair completion will result in the seller keeping your device permanently as compensation for unpaid time and labor and/or any unreimbursed parts costs incurred throughout the repair process.

----

-

PLEASE NOTE:

-

à If I receive a console without an accurate, signed copy of the Repair Order Form included, your deposit will be used to ship everything back, untouched.

-

à If all goes well, the deposit will simply be credited back to you against the final bill.

-

-

-

Step 4: Ship your console to me with the materials provided.

 -

----------------------------

The label included will be pre-paid and addressed to me, so all you have to do is stick it on the same re-sealed box, making sure to cover the original label to avoid confusion. It will be insured for the approximate value of your console. Because buying this listing already reimburses me for these materials—and, having delivered them, I’m off the hook—don’t worry about mailing the console right away. Your earliest convenience is perfectly fine, all I ask is that you maintain communication if/when you decide to send it in.

Once I receive your console, I will begin working on it as soon as possible, and will report any new discoveries which might affect the cost of repair. When it’s finished, I’ll let you know and refer you to the secondary listing.

-

-

Step 5: Purchase Secondary Listing

----------------------------

When your console is finished, I will post it as a separate, unique listing available only to you. The description will outline all the prior agreements and any additional details resulting from the repair process. The final cost will be itemized for your records and the listing will be priced at the sum of these items (+shipping). In order to get your console back, you must purchase this second listing.

Once you have purchased it, you will be able to dispute the secondary listing (and by extension, the actual service charge) with eBay themselves if you feel you have not received what was promised. Because of the Repair Order Form, evidence submitted by either party in accordance with its explicit terms will be far more likely to be considered legitimate proof of any discrepancies than hearsay testimony. This way, both of us are protected from fraudulent disputes.

---

(Basically, the second listing will be your bill/receipt.)

---

After your purchase, I will send you your console back in full working order!

-

-

Step 6: Enjoy your working console!

-

-

Shipping (for this initial listing specifically):

This order will ship via USPS Ground Advantage w/ 1-2 business day handling time.

(Tracking info can be found in your Orders page in the Order Details section.)

---

8/2023:  Please note that my shipping method for consoles has changed. To provide greater protection for consoles, I have elected to switch from USPS Priority Mail Flat Rate to Ground Advantage, so that I can use my own larger boxes to fit more padding inside. It is important to insure these items so that we are both protected if USPS loses the package (it has happened before). Since insurance is not automatically included with First Class, I have baked the cost I pay to add it into the handling cost of the listing (avg. ~$4.50). The price in the end will be about the same as it used to be, but with the benefit of greater physical protection.

---

Returns & Customer Support Policy:

I take pride in my work and want to ensure the product you receive is as good as it can be. If the item has arrived damaged from shipping or you notice a defect I somehow missed in testing, please reach out to me before leaving feedback. I take these matters seriously and will gladly do whatever I can (within reason) to help you. Feel free to contact me if you have any other questions or concerns.

---

Returns are accepted in general (within 30 days) for any reason.

If you change your mind about this repair idea entirely, you can return the package I sent you and get the initial purchase refunded. If you decide to do this, DON’T use the label included in the box. Instead, use the one eBay generates for you via the return request. Also, please note that “Not As Described” return cases damage seller metrics. Unless the item is truly “NAD,” please do not select this as the reason for return in hopes that doing so will increase your chances of acceptance. All return reasons are automatically approved within the 30-day period, so there is no need to worry.
