PRECIOUS MOMENTS FIGURINE I BELIEVE IN THE OLD RUGGED CROSS #103632 IN BOX & TAGS.  This auction is for a Precious Moments porcelain bisque figurine by Enesco.  It is tem #103632, entitled, ‘I Believe in the Old Rugged Cross.’  Produced in 1985, Samuel J. Butcher it was made in Taiwan. A blonde haired girl with her hair curled up at the ends is wearing a pale white floor length dress adorned with flowers that continue onto the grass.  She is holding up/leaning on a wooden cross.  The figurine measures 5 ½” high x 3” wide/deep and weighs 8 ounces unpackaged.  Two cards are included.  Precious Moments founding artist Samuel J. Butcher’s artwork has always been inspired by faith, family, and friends. His soulful illustrations of children with teardrop-shaped eyes were first featured on popular greeting cards. When Mr. Butcher saw the first sample of a Precious Moments figurine more than 40 years ago he was awestruck. The sculptor had captured the very essence of Mr. Butcher’s iconic Precious Moments artwork Love One Another and had brought it to life. In that moment, one of this humble artist’s dreams had come true.  In 1978, the original 21 Precious Moments figurines were released to worldwide acclaim and a new collecting/gift-giving tradition was born.
