Bare Board for the Dekatron Spinner Kit. This board is for the simple spinner kit, and uses a simple circuit to both power & spin a dekatron. Its also powered from low voltage. 12VDC or 9VAC are the preferred input voltages. Up to 16VDC acceptable. The circuit only draws 150mA at 12V. A 5.5mm OD x 2.5mm ID power jack is provided, so wallcubes, with current capacities as low as 200mA (higher better) can be used to power it. You're not 'slaved' to the AC line, so power it from your car lighter jack !
This the NEW DS02A Board. This supercedes the older DS02 and DS01 board. Instructions found at my page, and page specific to the Spinners.
Also, because it has an on board switching supply, its much safer, than many of the 'direct' AC powered circuits seen on the Web. It still generates 450V, so it will still bite you, if you're not careful. Still, much safer than other circuits.

Dekatron tubes and all components are to be acquired separately, by the buyer. There are many sources available, both on eBay, and elsewhere online. It is pre-wired for OG-4 dekatron, but can be rewired across J2 to J3, for other octal tube types. This is all shown in the instructions at the given link.
Dekatrons are remarkable tubes. They were used from 1950 to late 1960's. They are the tube equivalent of decade counter ICs, but performed this function in a unique and elegant way. Read more about dekatrons here: Dekatron Stuff.

There has been a history of delayed packages to some European Union countries. Actually, only Germany. Parcels to Germany will now have a "Packing List Envelope" adhered to the outside, to appease German Customs. If you are in Germany, your package can be held up in Customs for up to 6 weeks !
