For sale are two vintage scrapbooks filled with fascinating photo clippings of steam trains from the 1930s. These are hardbackk notebooks (one is called The Housewife's Diary 1927 published by Mac Fisheries Ltd) that have been filled with pasted in cuttings from black and white newspapers or magazines. On one of them the spine is missing. These scrapbooks are a true treasure for any train enthusiast or collector of vintage memorabilia. They offer a glimpse into a bygone era of railway travel and are sure to delight and inspire anyone with an interest in trains or vintage travel.
These were put together by an Isle of Wight resident almost 100 years ago and include several references to Isle of Wight trains, stations (and boats!). But they also contain images of locomotive trains from across England, as well as Wales and Scotland (and possibly Ireland too). Some clippings are of trains in motion, some at stations or in the workshop etc. There are so many included that it would be impossible to list them all without spending hours putting it together.
