AUDIOLAB 8000P

L'amplificatore di potenza stereo 8000P che in realtà è composto da due amplificatori in un unico case, poiché l'unico altro elemento comune è il massiccio trasformatore toroidale di rete che occupa l'area centrale. Questo ha un primario a tensione singola, per alimentazioni a 240 Volt nel Regno Unito, e due secondari, uno per ciascun canale. Ciascuno alimenta un ponte raddrizzatore e una coppia di condensatori elettrolitici di alta qualità da 10.000 microfarad per fornire forniture positive e negative uguali. Questi sono montati, insieme ai relè di uscita degli altoparlanti e ad un circuito di protezione completo, su un circuito stampato centrale in fibra di vetro di alta qualità immediatamente dietro il toroide. I circuiti amplificatori sono piuttosto elaborati, utilizzano circa 30 transistor discreti ciascuno e sono anch'essi costruiti su pannelli in fibra di vetro. Sono abilmente disposti e gli standard di produzione e qualità dei componenti sono dei più alti. Coppie parallele di transistor di uscita complementari sul retro di queste schede sono imbullonate alle ali che sporgono dai dissipatori di calore interni di ampia area. Le fessure di ventilazione nella base e nel coperchio sono situate in modo da convogliare l'aria attraverso di esse e di conseguenza questo amplificatore rimane relativamente fresco anche dopo un periodo di guida intensa. La lavorazione dei metalli e la verniciatura sono di standard altrettanto elevato e, sebbene l'aspetto sia sobrio fino alla modestia, si tratta di un design britannico che resisterà al confronto con i migliori del mondo.

The 8000P stereo power amplifier which is actually two amplifiers in a single case, as the only other common element is the massive toroidal mains transformer which occupies the central area. This has a single voltage primary, for 240 Volt supplies in the UK, and two secondaries, one for each channel. Each powers a rectifier bridge and a pair of high-quality 10,000 microfarad electrolytic capacitors to provide equal positive and negative supplies. These are mounted, together with the speaker output relays and a complete protection circuit, on a high-quality central fiberglass PCB immediately behind the toroid. The amplifier circuits are quite elaborate, using around 30 discrete transistors each and are also built on fiberglass panels. They are cleverly laid out and the standards of manufacturing and component quality are of the highest. Parallel pairs of complementary output transistors on the back of these boards are bolted to wings that protrude from internal large-area heat sinks. The ventilation slots in the base and lid are located to direct air through them and as a result this amplifier remains relatively cool even after a period of hard driving. The metalwork and paintwork are of an equally high standard and, although the appearance is understated to the point of modesty, this is a British design that will stand comparison with the best in the world.
