illy Collection Glasses - Pair of Freddo Glasses

A truly "rare" set from the Illy Art Collection. The design of the glasses was designed by Matteo Thun (b. 1952, Italian architect and designer) and the Silver waves that adorn the glass, inspired by the sea of Trieste, were designed by the artist Serse Roma (b. 1952, Italian artist). Each glass is SIGNED 'Serse' and dated 'illy Collection 2005'. Included is the illy collection brochure and Numbered '09873' limited edition certificate of guarantee. 2005 Serse Roma. Designed by Serse Roma for illy. Excellent Condition; no signs of use (silver design has oxidized somewhat over time); no scratches; no chips. NO BOX; NO COFFEE.

NOTE: The decorations are made of silver, so:

            - the glasses are not dishwasher and microwave safe.
            - after a certain length of time the silver oxidizes (darkens). The glasses should be cleaned by                         hand with a special detergent of silver, using a non-abrasive sponge and drying with a non-                         abrasive cloth.

The signed special collection glasses spring to life when filled with rich iced or hot espresso drinks, and make an especially chic and elegant gift. Beautifully gift-boxed, the numbered collection kit contains two Serse Freddo glasses, a collection brochure and can of illy.

Emerging contemporary artist Serse Roma of Trieste, Italy, was inspired by the silvery blue waves of the Adriatic in this first Freddo glass illy collection. Known internationally for his black and white graphite drawings, all of Roma's work conveys the timelessness of nature with water as a frequently occurring element.

To promote "illy freddo" (cold espresso) a special, with silver decorated glasses set was released on May 13th 2005.

The shape of the glasses was designed by Matteo Thun. With undulating waves of silver inspired by the sea of Trieste grace these crystal glasses were decorated by emerging artist Serse Roma.

This set has been released as a limited edition, with a numbered certificate of guarantee.

Serse Roma was born in 1952 in San Polo di Piave, Italy. He lives and works in Trieste, Italy. The artist has produced over the years extraordinary series of images that have been included in the book “Drawing”, edited by Phaidon Press.
