Basic description
Issued to RAF pilots and aircrew, this military issued watch is in lovely condition and is working beautifully. Rare piece of military horology. The first issued Seiko chronograph (Generation 1) was procured from Seiko and primarily issued to pilots and navigators from October 1984 until November 1990. Documentation suggests that only 11,307 pieces of this watch was supplied by Seiko to the British Armed Forces.

Movement and Timekeeping
Built around Seiko's rock solid 7A28-7120 quartz/mechanical 15 jewel movement, this watch is a solid timekeeper. The chronograph functions all work as they should, starting, stopping and resetting properly (something that sometimes goes wrong if these watches have not been looked after). Pushers and crown all work as they should with no sticking.

Case and Crystal
The steel case is in good condition, but does show some signs of use as you would expect from a tool watch that has seem military service! Please study the photographs carefully for detail as they form an important part of the description. The case measures 37mm and is really slim which makes it a lovely everyday wear. The crystal has some very feint scratching but this is not really noticeable in use. 37mm case size, fixed bezel, black dial with baton hour markers and 3 sub-dials positioned at 3, 6 and 9 o'clock, respectively, all underneath a mineral glass.

Case Markings:
6645-99 - Time code and Nato Country Code
7683056 - Watch Part Number
7972/88 - Watch Number and Year
0815378 - Serial Number
7A28-7120 - Seiko Model Number

Dial and Hands
The dial and hands are in excellent shape and the watch is very readable. Lume is still working nicely, although not as bright as it once would have been.

Like all Seiko 7A28 models, the Gen 1 has a well-designed, functional chronograph with the stopwatch indicators arranged efficiently around the dial. The 3:00 o’clock register measures 1/10ths of a second, while the large center hand ticks incremental seconds. The 9:00 o’clock register records chronograph minutes up to 30. Time is displayed with standard center hour and minute hands and a continuous seconds hand in the bottom register.

Strap
Supplied on an admiralty grey NATO strap in good condition.
