Frýdlant v Čechách (German: Friedland in Böhmen) is a town in the Liberec (Reichenberg) district in northern Bohemia (Czech Republic).


Written by Wilhelm Haupt (1860-1935), owner of a “watch, gold, silver and optical goods store”.


Directed at which was founded in 1884 Max Hahn tower clock factory in Zwickau. Today the company operates under the name Uhren-Walter vorm. Zwickau tower clock factory Max Hahn.


Wilhelm Haupt purchased a tower clock from Max Hahn in 1902 (I offer the corresponding postcards at the same time).

25. July 1906: Relocation of the vestibule "because the last clock continues to strike again and again, meaning several hours together. ¼ Dealing forwards or backwards, I don't know anymore."

29. August 1906: Ordering “20 pieces of pre-couplings and 6 hammer angles” (with sketch)

6. September 1906: Order of "10 pre-couplings with small square hole" (with small sketch)

23. September 1906: The pre-couplers should be sent “without a chuck with a small square hole”.

28. September 1906: no further couplings should be sent, only "6 hammer angles for one watch"

24th + 25th October 1906: Order “6 hammer squares”. Haupt had the locksmith make the pre-couplings because Max Hahn “couldn’t deliver them that quickly”.

29. October 1908: Reference to "good iron foundries" in Haida and the surrounding area as well as tips for customs clearance

10. July 1909: Reminder to pay 7 marks for a cash on delivery shipment.

The numerous important personalities of the city of Friedland in Bohemia include Master watchmaker, jeweler and gold dealer Wilhelm Haupt, who had his watch, gold, silver and optical goods store at Schlossgasse 63 next to the Otto Hampel café and pastry shop.

At 4. Wilhelm Haupt was born in April 1860 into a long-established Friedland family. The name Wilhelm Haupt is also closely linked to the renovation of the Lusdorf church. In 1905, renovation work was carried out on the church tower and the cemetery wall. The tower was given larger windows and new stairs and received a new clock, which was provided by the Friedland watchmaker Wilhelm Haupt. On the 9th On June 1, 1913, at 11 a.m. in Friedland, the wedding of Josefine Haupt, daughter of Wilhelm Haupt, and Josef Hoffmann took place in the Catholic Church of the Finding of the Cross - also called the Dekanalkirche. Hoffmann was a city accountant in Friedland and a lieutenant in the Austro-Hungarian Infantry Regiment Freiherr von Schonaich No. 74.

In accordance with the decision of the political district administration in Friedland from January 1923, two substitutes were elected from the group of traders and business people for the year 1923 for the usury court at the district court in Friedland. One of them was Wilhelm Haupt from Schlossgasse. The second person elected was the merchant Rudolf Finke from Görlitzer Gasse. In earlier years, Wilhelm Haupt was also a member of several non-profit associations and cooperatives. He was also a member of the trade association of the watchmakers' cooperative. Here he was made an honorary member for his great contributions to the professional organization. As one of the oldest tradesmen in Friedland, he worked tirelessly until his fatal illness and was known as a capable expert in his field.

Since he had worked continuously for 50 years, he was able to celebrate his golden master's jubilee in 1932 and half a century of existence of his best-established specialist shop.

Wilhelm Haupt died on the 2nd March 1935 in his 75th birthday Age.
