Collector's relish the quality of a signed craftsman period design and know it
well.
McClelland Barclay (1891-1943) worked as an illustrator, sculptor and painter. He extended his talents to making very stylized Art Deco jewelry using rhinestones in the colors of genuine stones on gold plated metal. He also created sculpture-like jewelry in sterling silver.
With his short jewelry making
career coming to an abrupt end in World War ll, his jewelry is very rare and
highly collectible. McClelland Barclay jewelry is not to be confused with
Barclay jewelry also manufactured around the same time. McClelland Barclay
jewelry is marked with his full name. McClelland Barclay's life ended when his
ship was torpedoed near Australia in July, 1943.
