This auction is for a pair of large reclaimed stone church windows. These windows came from a chapel in Bramley, Surrey which was demolished in the 1990s. I saved both windows from the demolition team and they have been in storage ever since.
I was hoping to use them in a project but that moment never came! Each of these windows consists of a double arch which presumably used to hold stained glass windows but these had long gone by the time I got the windows. The 2 photos of the windows in situ show the actual windows for sale prior to their removal from the chapel. I believe that the chapel was of Bargate stone construction and believe the windows to be of the same material but cannot be completely sure. The windows are approximately 6' 3" tall and 4 foot wide where the arches start. The sills are approx 44" wide but as can be seen from the photos the windows are considerably wider in places. Whilst I cannot currently assemble the windows I would estimate the maximum width to be around 58". Each window aperture is approx 13" wide by 59" high and width at bottom of arch approx 47". 2 of the photos show the original situation of the windows prior to their removal from the chapel. I would describe both windows as being in good condition with inevitable knocks here and there. All major stone pieces are included in the sale although the purchaser will need to spend a few minutes working out the correct layout! The photos will provide significant clues. The sale is for both windows as would like to see them go as a pair. The windows are both large and extremely heavy. All the major stone pieces are included in the auction some 16 pieces for each window. I think a van will be necessary, don't think an estate car will be large enough. Collection only from central Guildford between 11th-20th May. Cash on collection only. Any questions please contact me via ebay.
