Exceptional 19th c Baptismal/Christening gown.  Top of the gown is decorated with lace and extremely beautiful embroidery.  The embroidery is a lovely design of flowers and leaves, surrounding a large bow.  The waist band has a tiny leaf design embroidered into it.  Bottom of dress is pleated at the waist.  The embroidery on the bottom of the dress is in a triangular pattern.  Starting at the top with a bow, it then has strips of lace that form the triangle.  The lace is surrounded by the floral and leaf embroidery and bows.  The center of the triangle is very delicately embroidered with flowers and leaves a , of course, the larger bows.  The bottom of the gown is ruffled.  The gown closes in back with ties.  The gown comes with a darling slip of lace and eyelet that closes in back with buttons and ties.  There is a double lace ruffle on the bottom.  I do not believe this is the original slip but they came together.  There is an amazing original bonnet with the gown.  Bonnet has the same beautiful delicate embroidery on it with the large bow in front.  There is one small reair on the side of the bonnet where the ties should be.  The ties are missing.   Aside from the small repair on the bonnet, This outfit is in near mint condition.  A very exceptional piece!!
