Description

A really good mantel clock made by Elliott of London in the 1950s and offering every function desired. Offered in good working order and complete with original key and operating instructions.

The 8 day clock is keeping good time and chimes the quarter hour with either Westminster or Whittington chimes, selected from the lever at the back. There is a lever at 3 O'Clock to silence the chimes at will and this clock is also fitted with a brilliant automatic silencer which operates from 10.45 p.m. until 7.00 a.m.. Original operating instructions are pasted to the inside of the back door!

The walnut veneered case has a lovely shine and sits beautifully on the mantel. There are some minor dings from normal use and a larger bruise to the back of the foot on the left side. There is also loss to two of the dial markings at 11 and 4 which I think someone has inked over. There is a presentation plaque at the back of the clock (which the buyer could easily remove) dated 1966 though this clock was made in the 1950s (date code under the case).

This clock offered for sale BY AUCTION with NO RESERVE.

Weighs 4.4kg before wrapping. The clock measures 10.75" (27.5cm) wide, 4.25" (10.5cm) deep and stands 9" (22.5cm) high.
