Thrifting find. Vintage women's brown jacket, size Small. Made in Italy by Kappa Espada. Soft, substantial cotton twill and fully lined, including sleeves, in an ecru tan quilted satiny fabric. I'm not quite sure how to describe the style and I've never come across a coat quite like this one. Car coat? Pea coat? Equestrian jacket or dressage coat? It's well made, high quality, and has lots of attention to detail. It has a double-breasted front with hidden snaps, bronze color metal button snap covers and a contrasting off-center decorative vertical crewelwork fabric front placket. Sleeves are pleated or gathered at the elbows. The back vent has two pleats and an unusual zippered center vent. The zipper is marked "Italy." The snaps are marked "Fiocci." Two angled, nearly vertical chest pockets and two horizontal lower pockets that are lined with a lightweight blue fabric with white polka dots. All pockets have hidden zippers. Two-button martingale at the back. Snap loop under the collar to keep it snug, or you can unsnap the top and wear as a lapel coat. There appears to be light allover fading to the brown fabric, and there are two small light spots on one sleeve as shown in the last photo. Notes on sizing: I could find no marked size, but model is a size 4, at 5'6" and 125 pounds. The sleeves were a little bit short on her. I would consider the jacket a slightly roomy size 2 or a more fitted 4. Please see pictures for details and condition, and let me know if you have any questions.
