Abraham Lincoln Birthplace Farm

Wood Relic

Own an Authentic Piece of wood from Abraham Lincoln’s Birthplace Farm!

On Feb. 12, 1809 Abraham Lincoln was born to parents Thomas and Nancy Hanks Lincoln in a small log cabin near Hodgenville, in Hardin County Kentucky. The cabin was located on the 300 acre farm that Thomas Lincoln bought in 1808, which was also known as the Sinking Spring Farm. The Lincolns lived there for 2 years after Abraham’s birth until they re-located several miles away to Knob Creek Farm.

In 1916 Abraham Lincoln’s birthplace became a National Park.

This piece of original wood was cut from an old tree on the farm.

It was made into a souvenir and sold, circa 1929, by the Ladies

Lincoln League in Hodgenville to raise funds for their library. The Ladies Lincoln League had a pavilion of the property and sold souvenirs. An old image of the cabin was attached to the front of the wood and a label from the Ladies Lincoln League was attached to the back.  The small piece of wood attached to the front of this display card was cut from the original larger piece sold as a souvenir.

The first image on ebay shows the display card with the tree wood attached above the image of Lincoln’s cabin. The second ebay image shows the original piece of souvenir wood and the label on the back of that souvenir piece. It also contains the description of where the wood came from.

The actual piece of wood is about ½  inch long and is mounted on a 5 x 7 inch descriptive COA display that can easily be framed. Each piece of wood will vary slightly depending on how it was cut from the original larger piece. The display is protected by a stiff plastic protector. The front image is an early view of the Lincoln’s cabin with the wood mounted above. The back has a brief history of Lincoln’s birthplace farm.

This would look great matted and framed and would make a very special gift for anyone with an interest in history!
