This vintage hand-painted chalkware head from Bossons depicts Dickens comedic character Sarah Gamp, a none-too-competent, frequently inebriated nurse in the novel Martin Chuzzlewit. This figurine is dated 1964 and is one of a series of Dickensian figurines that Bossons produced.

The head is about 5 inches tall and 3.5 inches wide, and is securely attached to a gold-tone oval wooden frame that is 12 inches tall and 10 inches wide. In the frame, the head can be hung attractively alone on a wall. The original hook on the back is intact and the head can be removed from the frame to be displayed on the wall in a group of other Bosson characters or other items. The frame also facilitates display on a tabletop, if desired. The original glass that came with the frame is included.

The head is in very good condition. There are some very small chips in the paint on Mrs. Gamp's mob cap on the right side, which are visible in the photos.
