Most unusual carved piece stands about 9” including wooden block it’s adhered to, the block is not quite an inch. Unusual in that his elbows are jointed. Both elbows will allow a movement of in, toward the body, and out, away from the body, which has the affect of tightening the string bow he’s holding. There’s a cloth quiver on his back, but no arrows. The bow itself is just a primitive rendition, a stick and string, made this way as stick bends when he pulls bow taut, (see photo 3.) Whole body is carved wood, his hands and feet having particularly nice detail. He has black yarn hair, his painted features are rather crudely done, a well carved face with wide flat nose, and jutting chin. There’s an old price sticker on the bottom with a number and a price of $140.00. The clothes he’s wearing is simple smock of muslin type material. Some dirt smudges to back of smock and the yarn hair appears that it was once tied back, also glue residue to base where he was glued. Other than that, very good vintage condition. Please use honest, close up photos to guide you in your purchase and enlarge them. I don’t know anything about him, but he was bought at an estate sale in Memphis. He was in a nice glass and wood display case. He is an eye catcher when displayed, you’ll like how he appears to be eyeing and pointing with a finger at his prey with his bow drawn.
