Ancient Southeast Asia, Vietnam, Dong Son culture, ca. late 1st millennium BCE. A wonderful, bronze bell presenting a rounded head, a straight body, a flared lip that opens to a rectangular mouth, and no clapper.  A slender, horizontal band of a braided patterning encompasses the exterior, lying just above the lip. A series of 2 incised sun motifs additionally embellish the lip, with 1 at each corner of one side.

The impressive instrument is enveloped in a verdant green patina, imbuing it with an elegant presentation, evocative of the ancient world.
