ORIGINAL c1860s BESSBOOK FLAX SPINNNING MILLS.  J.N. RICHARDSON, SONS, & OWDEN, BELFAST IRELAND BIRDS EYE VIEW LITHOGRAPH 'DRAWN FROM NATURE AND ON STONE BY MARCUS WARD & CO BELFAST'

This is a wonderful original. It has sat in my personal collection for about a year because I have been so fascinated by it.  I have been trying to find another example anywhere and have been unable to find any others except the one of I have found in the Newry and Mourne Museum in Ireland.  Worldcat shows no examples and the historic databases dont show any either.  This is one of those pieces that covers so many collecting areas.  First, the image is a wonderful birds eye view of the Besssbrook Flax Spinning Mills and the town of Newry in Northern Ireland.  The image measures 11 3/4 x 19 3/4 inches on sheet measuring 13 3/8 x 20 inches.  Excellent clean image with original coloring.  Some consistent and inconsistent toning to the page but really excellent.  In the bottom margin is the title of the image of the Flax Spinning Mill which was one of the most important of its kind in the middle 19th Century.  Below that is the name of JN Richardson, Sons, & Owden in Belfast Ireland. They were the owners of the Mill and actually the creator of this town of Bessbrook.  This would have been published to advertise the firm and its mills as well as the town.  Really a wonderful example of an incredibly scarce original.  To make this even better it is in the original period lemon gold frame and even still has the original wood backing.  Really just the complete package.  Do your own research on this print.  Truly this might be the only other example that ever comes to market.  A scarce, made in Ireland print of an Ireland business and it's advertising.  Frame measures 15 x 21 1/2 inches.  FREE SHIPPING ANYWHERE IN THE UNITED STATES!
